What's in store for us?

A week ago, we recapped the past year. And what is in store for us in the Maps and Internet Commission this year❓

- First of all, we are looking forward to the International Cartographic Conference in Cape Town. We already have many submissions to our commission. We are also preparing the traditional pre-conference workshop (in collaboration with the Commission on Ubiquitous Mapping) and a business meeting during the conference. And, of course, we are looking forward to lots of informal meetings and discussions🫱‍🫲.

- We can also promise regular updates about the world of maps and the Internet on our communication channels (social networks, blog, ICA newsletter, commission newsletter, Discord).

- In the spring, we plan a video challenge, "The different faces of web cartography".

- And there will certainly be many other events, conferences, workshops, webinars or hackathons that we will keep you posted on.

So, good luck!!!

Commission meeting in Nessebar (Bulgaria)

On Thursday, 23 June, the International Conference on Cartography and GIS held this year's Commission on Maps and the Internet meeting in Nessebar, Bulgaria. The chairman of the Commission, Otakar Čerba, briefly presented the activities of the Commission in the past year and the possibilities of involvement in the work of the Commission in the coming months. This was followed by a webinar where František Zadražil from the Plan4all association presented Hub4Everybody - an open-source web-based system for processing, cartographic visualization and sharing spatial data. The meeting was attended by about 30 people interested in maps and the Internet, including a Norwegian representative connected online. The event would not have been possible without the support of the conference organizers, Stefan Bonchev, vice-chair of the committee, and Karel Jedlicka, vice-chair of the Plan4all association.
